Skill required for entry jobs in Canada

Hello everyone, 🙋🏻‍♀️

Gary here, in my last blog I mentioned that I will share some strategies regarding improving your skills to make our self-proficient enough to land job in Canada. Today I will be sharing some basic information which I have gathered after completing my session with the “New Comer Program” offered by Canada government to the immigrants.  To know more about the program, you can visit https://www.jvstoronto.org/.

Well to start with, everyone here knows the power of good resume, to land job or ever to land an interview we must have very strong resume. And to make it strong we need to have certain certification under our belt. Now the very first question which comes to our mind is “HOW?” exactly do we obtain such certificate. Well the answer is very simple, and most of you must be already knowing or had already enrolled in such courses, yes you guessed it right… through Online Platform where you can learn and earn certificate by just paying small amount of fee. Now before I tell you any such courses which could help you out, let us first see what many people and friends suggest.

Well, lot of you must have already researched about it and heard people mentioning that we should not try to find small and unrelated job, meaning that we should give priority to our field (professional) job and I also agree with them. I have few friends living in Canada and they suggested me that whatsoever my field is  I should try in that first. Personally I also believe that if we do not get opportunity immediately after landing to Canada, then we must have some patience and instead of wasting much of time in part time so unrelated jobs we must focus in searching and giving interview At the same time I know that everyone’s situation is not same. So, I believe one should be ready with such skills which may be useful if you need to join any entry level job. For me, initially it was not easy to prepare myself for any such jobs, but sooner I realized that the country I am about to reach is not only my dream but of many. So competition is tough and even to get entry level job is not that easy. Once I got my COPR I contacted Canada Info-tech (the link I have mentioned above) it’s a program which is given only once and its completely free of cost. You can get free consultant service by sitting back in your country, they help people in many ways, such as, helping to design Canadian resume, arrange job fairs and let you attend webinars. Even they contact you personally (via Skype in my case) and you can communicate to them and give them detail like which province you are planning to land, and which kind of job you would like to find once you will land there.

Ok now, let us come to our today’s topic i.e. what to prepare during this period so that we could be benefited in future. So, I will list all the them one by one…

  •         Typing: I know most of you must be expert at it, but those who are not I feel that we should have this skill. Let me share my story when I started typing practice my speed was 20 and now I type at the speed of above 45. And it’s only been 2-3 months and I have achieved this level. I remember within a month my speed was around 35.For this you can download Typing Master Pro, also many online practice sites are available.

  •      MS Word: Personally, I believe that we should have knowledge of MS word. For this you can buy a course on Udemy (Online Platform). All the courses on Udemy are generally under 500 and the best part is that you are provided with certificate after successfully completing the course. (My personal best is course by Kyle Pew:  https://www.udemy.com/course/microsoft-word-from-beginner-to-advanced-and-beyond/)

  •     MS Excel:  Again if you interested in any data entry sort of job, then you must have good command over MS Excel. Yes, I know many might be thinking that we already know how to work on word and excel, but trust me guys there are lot more commands to learn. Again, for this you can buy a course on Udemy and get certification after completing it. (My personal best: https://www.udemy.com/course/microsoft-excel-2013-from-beginner-to-advanced-and-beyond/ )

Ok friends, that’s for this blog, I will be making my next blog for Computer Science graduates on what courses they can do to strengthen their resume. I hope you all enjoyed this blog and got some fruitful information. For any query you can post your comment and I will try to answer it in my coming blogs, thank you, take care and stay safe.✨✨
